They&#8217;re wrong, of course, but it&#8217;s still a nice thought when the day unfolds as well as this one did. I know you&#8217;re dying for the details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Up at the unheard-of time of 8:30 a.m., NYD being the one day of the year we sleep until we can sleep no longer.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Leisurely breakfast of scones, cereal with fresh strawberries and blackberries for me, fruit and yogurt parfait for <acronym title=\"My Lovely Bride\">MLB<\/acronym>, Rio Grande Valley grapefruit and strong coffee<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Perusal of the newspaper and online news while watching the <i>Monk<\/i> marathon on cable<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Brisk walk with Abbye in cool-but-not-cold weather&#8230;she got to chase squirrels up a tree and thus was fulfilled<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Five mile run with MLB down random neighborhood streets; she kept track of the distance with her Garmin GPS, which just keeps getting cooler. Again, NYD is one of the few times during the year we get to run together, and it&#8217;s always fun (in a painful kind of way).<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Late lunch of honey-glazed ham, traditional blackeyed peas (with jalape\u00f1os), yeast rolls and salad&#8230;ahhhhhh&#8230;<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">A little housework (her &#8211; bathrooms; me &#8211; dusting [yeah, I know]) just to stay in practice<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Late afternoon walk with Abbye in shirt-sleeve weather; it&#8217;s hard to beat 65\u00b0 on New Year&#8217;s Day<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 1em;\">Dinner consisting of microwave popcorn, Diet Vanilla Coke (for me) and Fresca (for her), and Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream with chocolate syrup while watching<i> I, Robot<\/i> on DVD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I ask you, do we know how to live, or what?<br \/>\nI hope your New Year&#8217;s Day was equally stress- (and content-) free!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They say that whatever you do on New Year&#8217;s Day, you&#8217;ll do throughout the year.
