I know, right? Two posts in two days?! If you feel this portends a disturbing trend, take comfort in knowing that it probably<\/em> won’t happen again this year. OTOH, if you’re inexplicably delighted…don’t get used to it, for the same reason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just consider this an amuse-bouche, albeit without a tasty entree to follow. I’m trying to clear out a bunch of old and busted miscellany from my phone, tablet, and desktop in order to make way for new and improved miscellany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But first…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new home being built next door is almost completed. It’s well-constructed with lots of high-end finishes and features and the builder \u2014 who happens to be a good friend \u2014 has gone out of his way to mitigate any concerns we might have about having neighbors in close proximity after nine years of wide open space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of those features is a very interesting fountain that’s been placed in a flowerbed in the front of the house. Here’s a photo (the water is shut off temporarily):<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Does this evoke visions of something you might have seen elsewhere, perhaps a long time ago, possibly in a galaxy far, far away? No?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will never be able to see this fountain without replaying portions of the 1977 edition of Star Wars<\/em>. The Death Star<\/a> has obviously aged poorly, but we can thank the Rebel Alliance<\/a> for that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
