Well, hello there. It’s been a couple of weeks since I published anything here on this blog-like thing, so I’m fulfilling my New Year’s resolution to post more frequently but then to ignore that resolution. That approach has always been effective and welcomed by most alert Gazette readers. You’re welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just returned from five days in sunny San Diego (Coronado Island, to be exact) and weirdly calm Las Vegas. I started a trip report on the plane back to Texas, but lost interest around the 20th paragraph where I was still on Day Two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What I’d like to do \u2013 and I hope you approve, or at least pretend to \u2013 is post a handful or two of photos that have been stacking up on my phone, iPad, and computer. Some of them will relate to our trip (like the photo at the top of this page, taken on Coronado and looking toward Point Loma); some will be completely random and all they have in common is that I don’t have to keep seeing them on those devices and thinking I should do something with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By the way, I know that most or all of you come here expecting to learn something that I’ve stored in my massive brain\/yellow sticky notes on my desk, so here goes: bata Bukini wa Misri<\/em> is the Swahili term for an Egyptian goose (Misri<\/em> is Swahili for Egypt; bata Bukini<\/em> means duck goose<\/em>. Seems redundant to me but what do I know? Oh, and wa<\/em> means of<\/em>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
