I was glad to see that <a href=\"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/fireant\/2004\/05\/06\/napalming-the-kitchen-overreaction-or-necessary-precaution\/\" title=\"The introduction to this sordid little tale\">little mousy corpse<\/a> splayed out under the sink this morning, while <acronym title=\"My Lovely Bride\">MLB<\/acronym> was disgusted. To me, the successful baiting (a piece of dog food secured with a blob of peanut butter [Jif extra crunchy, if you must know]) and planting of the trap reinforced my status as the hunter-protector of the household, although perhaps in MLB&#8217;s eyes, I should never have allowed the verminary presence in our home to begin with. But she didn&#8217;t dare say anything, because there still remained the Disposal Of The Body.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Face it, women are endowed by their Creator with the ability to do certain things that men can&#8217;t fathom, like seeing dirty socks on the floor, for example. Tossing dead rodents isn&#8217;t one of those things, generally speaking.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll admit that I wasn&#8217;t really looking forward to it myself. I briefly contemplated whether I could rent a hazmat suit for the occasion, but decided that <a title=\"Article about bubonic plague and mice in our house. Well, close by, anyway.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mywesttexas.com\/site\/news.cfm?newsid=11451507&amp;BRD=2288&amp;PAG=461&amp;dept_id=475626&amp;rfi=6\">the plague<\/a> was probably easily combated by the avoidance of mouth-breathing during the disposal.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, as I held the little dead guy over the trash, I felt a little tinge of emotion, and a song popped into my head, unbidden, that seemed to capture the full <em>schadenfreude<\/em> of the situation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"quote\" align=\"center\">&#8220;Hey, Mickey, you&#8217;re so pretty<br>Don&#8217;t you understand&#8230;<br>You take me by the heart<br>When you take me by the hand?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I saw very clearly an image of <a title=\"Toni's profile on the Swingin' Chicks website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swinginchicks.com\/toni_basil.htm\">Toni Basil<\/a> prancing about in that cute little cheerleader&#8217;s outfit, pigtails waving in time to the dead mouse&#8217;s tail that I was unconsciously dancing over the trashcan&#8230;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ahem.<\/em> That&#8217;s not really the point, is it? The point is, we&#8217;ve rid ourselves of one bad guy, and I&#8217;ve set a second trap just to make sure he didn&#8217;t bring a <a title=\"The Rules of Dueling\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wgbh\/amex\/duel\/sfeature\/rulesofdueling.html\">second<\/a>. I can&#8217;t wait to peek under the sink in the morning.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"smaller\">[*Oh, don&#8217;t you claim that you wouldn&#8217;t have stooped to the same title in a similar circumstance.
