{"id":3853,"date":"2006-07-14T16:29:03","date_gmt":"2006-07-14T21:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/gazette\/2006\/07\/14\/how-to-tell-when-youve-been-married-forever\/"},"modified":"2024-09-21T12:36:43","modified_gmt":"2024-09-21T17:36:43","slug":"how-to-tell-when-youve-been-married-forever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/fireant\/2006\/07\/14\/how-to-tell-when-youve-been-married-forever\/","title":{"rendered":"How to tell when you&#8217;ve been married forever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Remember yesterday (I know; that&#8217;s probably unreasonable) when I was telling you about <a title=\"From the Gazette archives, going back as far as one day\" href=\"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/fireant\/2006\/07\/13\/random-thursday-10\/\">my greeting card-shopping experience<\/a> and how hard it was to sift through the hundreds of choices to find one that didn&#8217;t initiate a gag reflex?<\/p>\n<p>Well, <acronym title=\"My Lovely Bride\">MLB<\/acronym> and I exchanged cards this afternoon after the movie (and I do owe you a review, Becky). She handed hers to me and I thought, &#8220;interesting&#8230;we both put the card into the envelope backwards,&#8221; because I could make out the Hallmark imprint through the paper&#8230;the paper that, coincidentally, seemed to be the same color as the envelope I handed her.<\/p>\n<p>You can see this coming, can&#8217;t you?<\/p>\n<p>What are the odds that a woman and a man, shopping independently for an anniversary card (she was a lot earlier than me, of course) would choose <em>the exact same card<\/em> for each other?<\/p>\n<p>In our case, the odds are apparently 100%. That&#8217;s pretty cool, in a weird way.<\/p>\n<p>[I just hope she doesn&#8217;t get me a pair of inlaid opal earrings.]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Finishing each other&#8217;s sentences?
