{"id":750,"date":"2012-02-07T06:30:08","date_gmt":"2012-02-07T12:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/gazette\/2012\/02\/07\/120207-moresearches\/"},"modified":"2024-09-17T12:01:24","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T17:01:24","slug":"120207-moresearches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ericsiegmund.com\/fireant\/2012\/02\/07\/120207-moresearches\/","title":{"rendered":"More Recursive Searches"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I got to thinking about yesterday&#8217;s post and decided I probably gave Google short shrift regarding its placement of its competitors in the results for a search on &#8220;search.&#8221; After all, if someone comes to your search engine and searches for &#8220;search,&#8221; chances are pretty good that your service isn&#8217;t really the one they&#8217;re looking for, so it makes sense to present them with the top competitive alternatives. That&#8217;s not condescending; that&#8217;s trying to anticipate what your customers want, and give it to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, how do Google&#8217;s competitors do in this regard. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bing.com\/search?q=search&amp;go=&amp;qs=n&amp;form=QBLH&amp;pq=search&amp;sc=8-5&amp;sp=-1&amp;sk=\">Bing<\/a> does pretty well, actually, putting Yahoo and Google in the top three. <a href=\"http:\/\/search.yahoo.com\/search;_ylt=Ai6GE.ML3cSyAVkgB_.bTpWbvZx4?p=search&amp;toggle=1&amp;cop=mss&amp;ei=UTF-8&amp;fr=yfp-t-701\">Yahoo<\/a> isn&#8217;t quite as egalitarian, placing itself at #2. &nbsp;Google comes in third, but Bing doesn&#8217;t show up until the ninth spot.
