This is a placeholder post while I try to figure out how to bend WordPress to my will. I don’t know if I’ll keep that drop cap thing; I’ll be experimenting with a lot of different style options, and some won’t make the grade. The drop cap seems a bit pretentious, doesn’t it?
One thing I’ll have to get accustomed to — and you, as well — is the relatively narrow column of text compared to the original layout of the Gazette. I realize that this layout is theoretically easier to read than a wide column — your eyes can more easily shift from the end of one line to the beginning of the next — but it’s not what I’m used to. There’s a way to get around this, but I think I’m going to stick with it for a while. You’ll have to scroll more to see all the cra…uh…well-thought out prose that I offer, but maybe that’s a good trade-off. Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments.
